Wide-eyed Turkey

Another cute project I found is called a wide-eyed turkey. I found this one on Bitz & Giggles' website and Ellie begged me to make them. How could I resist.

Those wide big eyes remind me of my grandbaby! Once again, super easy to make and Ellie really enjoyed creating her own.

Gather your materials:

* Cupcakes (homemade or bought)
*Chocolate Frosting
 *Fudge striped cookie (Dollar store)
 *Oreo Cookies (Dollar Store)
*Brown M&M's or chocolate chips (Dollar Store)
*Red Licorice (Dollar Store)
*Candy Corn (leftover from Halloween)

Now to the fun part, putting it all together:
Carefully pull the Oreos apart keeping the sides with the crème filling and eating the other. Add the brown M&M's to make the eyes. You can enforce them with frosting but Ellie said they were holding just fine.

Frost your cupcake:

Add frosting to the top half of the fudge striped cookie.

Arrange the candy corn as the feathers.

Cut a slit into the cupcake just large enough to slide the cookie in.

Add your eyes, candy corn beak and licorice to finish it off.

Look at how sweet they look in a grouping! We ran out of brown so Ellie used the blue M&M's!

Thank you for hanging in as I know this is a long post! I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving with loved ones. Be sure to let me know if you try any of these projects. I would love to see them.

Conversemos de tus Finanzas #WellsFargo

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and Wells Fargo
All thoughts and content are my own. #WellsFargo #Sponsored

In actividades para niños DIY Y CRAFTS Pilgrims hat Thanksgiving turkey

Thanksgiving Pilgrim Hat

By: Norma Juarez

Hey all! Happy Thursday, the one week mark that is the beginning of Holiday fun! We will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our home this year.  I was in search of cute little crafts to entertain the kiddos. I found this fun idea on Lil Luna and thought it would be perfect. They are little Pilgrim hat crayon holders.

Here are the items you need to complete your own:

  • Black paper cups ( I bought mine at Hobby Lobby)
  • Black cardstock
  • Ribbon, ric rac
  • Hot glue gun w/ glue sticks
  • Button
  • Small paper square

Step 1: Trace your circle on black cardstock

Step 2: Cut out the bottom of the cup

Step 3: Hot glue your ribbon and/or ric rac. Then hot glue the cup to the circle.

So fun and easy! Ellie wanted to make her own and here she is showing it off. Of course, I did all the dangerous steps for her (i.e. knife, glue gun, etc.).

Here is another shot of mine. I was also thinking that you can add other fun items such as popcorn, peanuts, candy, chocolate covered pretzels, etc. You will need to add shredded paper in the cup to elevate the crayons. Fun, easy, and inexpensive. All you need to add are the coloring pages and your all set.

Thank you for hanging in as I know this is a long post! I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving with loved ones. Be sure to let me know if you try any of these projects. I would love to see them.

In Baby Care Baby Health Health Latina Mom Bloggers Respiratory Suncytial Virus RSV RSV Awareness RSV prevention RSV Virus SALUD Utah Mama Latina

RSV Awareness and Prevention

Disclosure: This is part of a sponsored collaboration with MedImmune and Latina Mom Bloggers. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
I been lucky enough to have always had very healthy babies, with 5 pregnancies behind me and one on the way, there are things you learn and preventions you take when caring specially for your newborns. After all they are so little and defenseless it is our job as Mommy's to educate ourselves and protect them as much as we can from any harm including viruses such as the RSV or Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

RSV is as you might not even guessed a very common virus that is contracted by almost all babies It is so common 100% of babies will get the virus once in their life time before the age of 2 years old.

When babies are born full term and they get RSV, the symptoms will be mostly mild almost flue like.  But the most severe is when premature babies born before 37 weeks contract the virus, due to their lungs not being fully develop and immature immune systems, fighting the virus is so much harder at times almost impossible. It is said that there are approximately 125,000 hospitalization and up to 200 infants deaths each year caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

Here are some symptoms that would be consider Severe specially if your baby was born before 37 weeks
  • Persistent coughing or wheezing
  • Bluish color around the mouth or fingernails
  • Rapid, difficult, or gasping breaths
  • Fever (especially if it is over 100.4°F [rectal] in infants under 3 months of age)
The good news is that we as Moms do have some kind of control in preventing this virus, First and foremost with anything remember to wash your hands all of the time, specially when caring for your little ones. Teach your kids the same sometimes they come home from school and carry with them all the viruses their little friends have. This also goes along the lines of keeping blankets, sheets, toys and anything that the baby comes in contact with clean. Try to stay away from big crowds or little ones as much as possible, specially if your baby was born prematurely, I would go as far as keeping your own sick children away from the baby if they have any cold or flue like symptoms.

Another thing you can do is to educate yourself specially if your baby was born prematurely, to do this I encourage you to visit RSVProtection.com.

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® and Latina Bloggers Connect
